OpDAT FAST™ Hybrid
The OpDAT FAST™ Hybrid connector is a field installable FO connector that offers constant and good optical transmission values thanks to its new hybrid technology. The FO connector can be assembled easily and quickly in the field – without gluing, without polishing and without special tools.
The factory-polished ceramic ferrule guarantees good and stable connection parameters. The fiber to be terminated is connected via a mechanical splice in the connector. The new hybrid technology makes this connection particularly reliable and low-loss. All accessories required for connector assembly are included in the scope of delivery. This eliminates the need for further investment in special equipment and tools.
Properties
-
with hybrid technology for better and constant optical insertion loss values
-
no polishing and no gluing during the assembly on site
-
available with connector types LC and SC for singlemode (UPC and APC polishing
- connector kits for buffered fibers with Ø 0.25 and Ø 0.9 mm
- connector kits for FO cables with Ø 2.0 and Ø 3.0 mm
- the connector can be assembled up to three times

Technology
The OpDAT FASTTM hybrid connector offers consistently good insertion loss and return loss values thanks to the new hybrid technology and the fiber bevel cut.
The combination of the usual refractive index gel and the newly developed Opto-Elast has been verified in the laboratory and represents the next development step in field-terminable fiber optic connectors.
During assembly, the end of the fiber to be connected is immersed in the refractive index gel and the Opto-Elast, which is applied directly to the pre-installed glass fiber. The Opto-Elast stabilizes the light transition between the two fibers in the embedded refractive index gel.
In addition to the hybrid technology, the fiber pre-installed in the connector is already cut at an angle at the factory. The fiber to be connected is also cut at an angle using the new cleaver. The return loss reaches values in physical contact of over 60 dB for APC connectors and over 35 dB for multimode connectors.
